Featured Photo: January 2015
Recently, the awesome size of the featured picture on the front page of STiBN got me thinking, "What fun is it to keep the first image people see on the site the same, month after month? None. So I've decided to feature a new photo each month, and to go along with it a bit of the background story behind the image. So here's the first of my featured photos, January 2015.
The picture was originally taken February 14, 2014. I was on safari in the north of Tanzania, in Tarangire National Park, near the Ngoro Ngoro Crater. Our camp is behind me, a cluster of tents in a little field surrounded by patches of Acacia trees. Animals constantly moved throughout the camp, particularly at night, as well as sunset and sunrise. This particular day, a herd of elephants was moving through the mist in the morning, and I woke up to photograph them before breakfast. I didn't get any amazing shots of the elephants (the best one is down below), but just the light itself made everything else in the area look magical.
